Sherine Olickal

Sherine Olickal of Springfield, New Jersey was the recipient of the 2011 New Jersey Food Council Scholarship. This scholarship helped her pursue RN & BSN degrees which she completed in May 2014. At age 12, Sherine took a tour of Saint Mary’s Hospital in Kerala, India, and immediately decided to become a nurse. “The chaos and mayhem in the hospital instilled in me a spark of determination and passion to become a nurse”, she wrote in her scholarship application essay. “Higher education equips an individual to contribute efficiently and effectively to society. I consider it one of my greatest responsibilities after earning an excellent nursing education to bring light into the lives of those who suffer.”
